The D244 pairs 16 × 1G SFP and 8 × 1G combo ports with 4 × 10G SFP+ uplinks, giving a routed fibre aggregation point in a 19-inch rack.
1G SFP ports take fibre runs from roadside cameras and junction boxes, with 10G SFP+ toward the control room. Multicast and QoS help keep many video streams steady.
Each block's access switch can uplink over 1G fibre, with routing separating residents, staff and guest subnets. 802.1X adds per-user control where shared devices are common.
ERPS ring and STP/MSTP give redundant paths between distribution switches. A single fibre fault then does not cut off a building or control room.
Choosing between models? On the published specifications, the D244 matches the NetForce L3-C244 and NetForce L3-E244 port for port; the datasheets show where they differ. For copper-heavy floors, the NetForce L3-D486 brings 48 Gigabit RJ45 ports and 6 × 10G SFP+.
